Q&A with Astrid Hurlbut
Is my Medicare Part B premium automatically deducted from my Social Security check?
Answer: Yes, your Medicare Part B premium will be taken out automatically from your Social Security check. No need to set it up.
What are the reasons why I should work with a Medicare agent?
Answer: Because the agent has information you wouldn't be able to find anywhere on line and best yet it doesn't cost you a penny to have a good agent that has your back, answers any service issues and helps you with your drug plan enrollment annually
Can I backdate my Medicare enrollment if I missed my initial window due to a medical emergency?
Answer: Yes, you may be able to backdate your Medicare enrollment if your medical emergency caused you to miss your initial enrollment period, but you must qualify for a Special Enrollment Period (SEP) and request it through the Social Security Administration. If you don't qualify for an SEP, you'll have to wait for the next General Enrollment Period and may face late penalties, as backdating isn't typically an option in that situation.
