Q&A with Amie Randall
What do you like most about being a Medicare agent?
Answer: I enjoy helping people and seeing the sense of relief when clients know someone is here to help them navigate the sometimes confusing process known as Medicare. I enjoy building relationships with my clients and ensuring their best interest is always top priority.
What's the trade-off between a Medicare Advantage PPO and HMO when it comes to flexibility?
Answer: With a PPO, you have flexibility and can see providers both in and out of network, however your co-pays and max out of pocket is typically higher. Where an HMO has lower co-pays and max out of pocket most times, unfortunately if you are not in network you do not have coverage and you always need a referral.
Is Medicare Part A enough for hospital coverage?
Answer: No, you need secondary coverage to offset the deductible and co-pays for a hospital stay that are not covered by part A.
What should I look for in a Medicare plan if I travel frequently both domestically and internationally?
Answer: Traveling domestically you will have full benefits meaning original Medicare will pick up and then your supplement. Traveling internationally, with a Medicare supplement you will have $50,000 in lifetime benefits from your Medicare supplement. It is always recommended to purchase travel insurance when traveling internationally. When traveling domestic and/or international and you have a Medicare advantage plan you will have to look at the plan benefits and if the plan is an HMO or PPO. Again it is highly recommended to purchase travel insurance.
