Q&A with Alaina Frederick
My Medicare Advantage plan advertised dental coverage, but it barely covers anything. Is this normal?
Answer: Each Carrier differs in their dental coverage. This seems to be a trend for the 2026 plan year as well. There is a change in dental coverage as there used to be in prior years. This is why having a Broker help you shop is very beneficial.
Is paying for a high-end Medicare Supplement plan really worth it, or is it overkill?
Answer: It always depends on what can happen in the future and what the health history is of that individual. Preference , Budget an Peace of Mind are all factors as well.
What's your go-to strategy for helping someone decide between Medicare Advantage and Medigap?
Answer: I have Sonny and Cher presentation that everyone finds very helpful. We look at what Sonny will pay and what his advantages and disadvantages are on a Medigap. Then, we look at what Cher will pay and what her advantages and disadvantages are on a Medicare Advantage. I introduce a scenario of Sonny and Cher both having an emergency ride to the Hospital, having a surgery and admission in the Hospital for 5 days. We look at what each person will incur in expense and also claims , authorizations, networks. All the things!
Do Medicare Advantage plans save money?
Answer: This is a very personalized question. It depends on so many factors. Speaking with your local Broker will help you understand the pro's and con's of what is at stake with regard to each option of selecting secondary coverage to Original Medicare. Please feel free to reach out. I can send you a link to schedule a quick phone call on my calendar.
With a Medicare Advantage plan after I reach the max out of pocket, $3,000 or more, will I have any copays or fees the rest of the year?
Answer: Not for medical expenses. This is when the plan takes over and pays the remainder of the year. You will have a Part D Prescription max of $2,100 for 2026. Once you have spent$2,100 at the pharmacy, then the plan will pick up this expense as well.
Who can help me figure out this Medicare "maze and alphabet soup" it's so confusing.
Answer: Hello! It can be confusing and overwhelming. I show my clients the two pathways to have coverage beyond original Medicare. Please feel free to contact me. Also check reviews for Savvy Insurance Solutions online.
So with all these 2025 Medicare changes, should I be switching plans or staying put?
Answer: It all depends on your Provider networks and your medication cost. Plans and Providers negotiate contracts each year. Also, Plans and Pharmacy negotiate cost as well. Sometimes your Plan has a medication in a Tier 1 or 2 . Sometimes that same medication bumps up a Tier or completely comes off the list off covered medications. Each year you should review with a Broker.
I need help at home after my surgery. Will Medicare cover a home health aide or am I on my own?
Answer: In some cases Medicare would cover in-home health care, post a hospital stay. There are also plans available to cover short term in-home health care.
