About Me

I’m Tawshawa Bullock, a licensed insurance broker with over 15 years of experience helping seniors navigate their healthcare options with confidence. As the Owner and Managing Partner of The Bullock Group, I’ve had the privilege of serving clients across more than 10 states, making sure they have coverage that truly fits their needs—not just today, but for the years ahead.

I’m originally from Isle of Wight County and earned my degree in Healthcare Administration from Liberty University. I now serve families throughout the Hampton Roads area and beyond.

My heart is really in what I do. I know how confusing Medicare and insurance can feel, and my goal is to make it simple, clear, and personal. I want every client to feel supported, informed, and at peace with their decisions. To me, this isn’t just business—it’s about building relationships and being someone you can trust and call when you need guidance.

My faith and family are at the center of my life, and they shape how I serve others—with honesty, compassion, and care. When I’m not working with clients, I’m spending time with my family and enjoying the moments that matter most.

Q&A with Tawshawa Bullock

I'm enrolled in a Medigap Plan F, and I'm not sure how my emergency room visits are handled. Is there a copay I should expect?

Answer: No, there is no copay associated with your emergency room visit. Your Medigap Plan F covers the 20% out of pocket exposure including deductibles and coinsurances.

Does Medicare pay for telehealth visits with specialists, or is it limited to primary care?

Answer: Yes, Medicare does cover telehealth visits with specialists, not just primary care. As long as the provider accepts Medicare and the service is an approved Medicare service.

I have Medicare Part A and B since 06/01/2006 because of disability. My husband retired on 4/1/2024, and I now have no other coverage except for Medicare Parts A and B because I missed open enrollment for insurance coverage. Note: SS dropped SSI and changed it to straight SS. Please help.

Answer: You likely had a special enrollment period (SEP) when your husband’s coverage ended, but since that window passed, you may need to wait until the annual enrollment period (AEP) to enroll in a Medicare Advantage or standalone Drug plan.

In the meantime, you should apply for Medicaid or Extra Help which would lower your costs and may reopen enrollment options.

What are the reasons why I should work with a Medicare agent?

Answer: A Medicare agent helps you understand your options and choose a plan that is right for you. They also provide ongoing support and keep you informed about important changes in your area that may affect your coverage.

How does life insurance contribute to financial planning?

Answer: Life insurance helps take care of your loved ones financially when you pass away.

Pays for final expenses (funeral, burial)

Protects your savings so family doesn’t have to use their own money

Covers debts like a mortgage, credit cards, medical bills

Leaves a financial gift/legacy to children, grandchildren, or a cause you care about (charity)

Life insurance is not for you; it's for the people you leave behind. It ensures your loved ones aren't stressed or financially burdened during an already difficult time.

I hope this helps.
