Shari Kantor, Medicare Insurance Broker

About Me

Hi! I'm Shari,

I am a local Medicare Insurance Broker. I help folks like you simplify Medicare by holding your hand through-out the entire Medicare process. I help you with everything from initial enrollment into Original Medicare Parts A & B, to picking your Medicare Supplement (or Advantage Plans.)

There is no charge for my services (we get paid by the carriers), and no built-in costs towards premiums. Medicare standardizes these plans so that there is no price shopping required. No matter where you get your plan, the cost will be the exactly the SAME.

I can do home visits and meet in-person *or* help you over the phone, Whatever you most prefer,

Please look me up on Google to see my reviews. I look forward to helping you!

Shari

Answer: Hospice care is a specific, formal benefit under Medicare Part A so it is covered. It is a form of Palliative care that is specifically for folks who have end-stage disease.

Answer: For the most part it stays the same. However, there is a big advantage in that you get a new 6-month 'Medigap Open Enrollment Period' starting the first day of the month you turn 65. This means you can switch plans without being asked any medical questions! Talk to your Broker about your options.

Answer: This is a loaded question. There are a lot of things to consider when switching from Original Medicare to a Medicare Advantage Plan. Please speak with your Broker or Agent about all the pros and cons so you can make an informed decision.

Answer: As a general rule, Medicare does not cover experimental treatments because they don't meet the statutory requirement of being "reasonable and necessary" for patient care.

Answer: We are in 2026 now looking at 2027 changes. This is a question you can ask your Medicare Broker. There are a lot of things to consider. Please note: you can't make any changes until October 15th.

Answer: To find out if a drug is covered under your Part D plan, you can call the carrier and ask. There should be a phone number on the back of your Prescription Drug Plan or Advantage Plan card.

if you don't have a plan yet, you can ask your agent or go to Medicare.gov. They both have software that can check your medications.

Answer: This is completely dependent on the type of plan you have. You can call the number on the back of your card and ask.

Answer: Working with an independent, licensed Medicare broker or agent gives you a distinct advantage when navigating retirement healthcare. Because Medicare involves strict enrollment deadlines, complex plan structures, and lifelong financial penalties, having a dedicated professional in your corner simplifies the entire process.

As an extra benefit, there are no fees or hidden charges. Agents get paid by the insurance carriers!

Answer: Under current Medicare rules, once you reach the $2,100 out-of-pocket maximum in a calendar year, you enter the Catastrophic Coverage phase and your cost for all covered prescription drugs drops to $0 for the rest of that year.
