Q&A with Robert Hood

Is my Medicare Part B premium automatically deducted from my Social Security check?

Answer: That is correct. If you are collecting your Social Security benefits and have Medicare Part A and Part B, then your Part B premium will be automatically deducted from your Social Security check. You do not need to take any action to set this up!

Does everyone pay the same for Medicare?

Answer: Great question. The Part B and Part D premiums are based off of your Modified Adjusted Gross Income (MAGI) from 2 years prior. If you make over a certain amount of money, then you may pay more for your monthly premiums on Part B and Part D.

What are the reasons why I should work with a Medicare agent?

Answer: The reasons to work with a trusted Medicare agent is because we are staying up-to-date on current Medicare policies, rules, and regulations. When you have rate increases or changes in coverage, we will reach out to make sure you are aware. We help handle billing and claim issues for you. We work with multiple different companies, so we can look at more than one option to fit your needs. The best part is that you have the option to call someone you know and trust vs calling the insurance company and working with someone else every time. Hope this helps!!

I'm planning a long trip overseas. What happens if I need medical care while I'm away from the US?

Answer: That is a great question! Medicare Part A and Part B typically do not cover medical services outside of the US. Most Medicare Supplement plans include a foreign travel emergecy benefit that will cover 80% of the cost, until it has paid a lifetime benefit of $50,000.

Since there is very limited benefits with Medicare and the Medicare Supplement insurance for foreign travel emergency, we recommend a separate travel insurance policy that is designed to cover you outside of the US.

Hope that makes sense!
