Ric Santos, Medicare Insurance Agent
About Me
I got into insurance because I enjoy helping people understand their options and make informed decisions—not because I like sales. Medicare can be confusing, and I know how overwhelming it can feel when you're trying to sort through plans, costs, networks, and deadlines.
I've worked in customer service for over 30 years and have been in the insurance industry for more than 7 years. Today, I'm licensed in 17 states and work with multiple insurance companies, which allows me to help people compare their options and find coverage that fits their needs and budget.
I work with Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement, and Prescription Drug Plans, but my role is really to help you understand what's available and what makes the most sense for your situation. If you're new to Medicare, retiring, moving, or just wondering whether your current plan is still the right fit, I'm happy to help.
One thing that's important to me is being available after enrollment. Questions come up, plans change, and sometimes people just need help understanding a bill or a letter they received. I want my clients to feel comfortable reaching out whenever they need assistance.
I also speak Tagalog and enjoy helping members of the Filipino community navigate Medicare and health insurance options.
My goal is simple: provide honest guidance, answer your questions, and help you feel confident in your Medicare decisions.

Answer: No. The only reason why you'll sign up for Medicare in your situation is if you can get a better coverage/network through Medicare.
Answer: Yes. You have to let Social Security know about the move. Afterwards, call your Medicare agent to find out your next step.
Answer: Medicare will not pay for your groceries. Some Medicare Advantage plans may pay, but sometimes under some other conditions.
Answer: Everyone should go over a Medicare 101 presentation with an agent. This should be a basic part of a Medicare consultation.
Answer: Blood thinners are under Part D. So, if you have Part D and your plan's formulary covers blood thinners, then it's covered.
Answer: Medicare covers emergency transport. It doesn't mean you won't have a copay or coinsurance. Being covered could mean you might have out-of-pocket costs.
Answer: Yes, but there has to be a qualifying condition and normally a limit on the number of sessions. Since this is an outpatient service, it's under Medicare Part B.
Answer: The ones where you can get $2400 for signing up. These plans should be promoting medical benefits, networks and not the non-essentials.
Answer: I think it's the low reimbursement rates of doctors; that's why they refuse Medicare patients. There should be a standard rate for all doctors if they're dealing with a Medicare patient. After all, if you're a good doctor, you'll have more patients.
Answer: Take time to understand your options. Run scenarios in your mind how one plan will be better than the other.
Answer: The best Medicare Supplement insurance companies in my experience are those who are widely recognized. They are popular because their rates don't increase drastically every year.
Answer: Medicare does not cover hearing aids, but most, if not all, Medicare Advantage plans do. That can be very expensive.
Answer: They didn't learn what Medicare is all about. Too many people also regret not knowing all their options.
Answer: You can change your Part D during the Annual Enrollment Period and if you have a Special Enrollment Period during the year.
Answer: No, you're not supposed to have both Medicare and Marketplace coverage at the same time. You can get a Marketplace plan if you're 65 and over if you don't qualify for Medicare.
Answer: Yes, but it depends on the plan and the services needed. Any plan will cover emergency, but some plans will even cover specialist visits.
Answer: Yes, but there is typically a 24-month waiting period. You can get it almost automatically if you have ALS or ESRD.
Answer: While it's free to use the service of a Medicare agent, it can be costly, very costly to get the wrong plan. A good Medicare agent will make sure that you're on the best plan year after year.
