I switched to a new Part D plan and now half my meds require prior authorization. Why didn't anyone warn me this could happen?

Answer: Your trusted advisor should have reviewed your medications with you. That would give you the opportunity to determine which of your current medications do require prior authorization to determine the effect on changing plans. Or you could discuss this with your doctor to determine if there are alternatives medications that he could prescribe for you that do not require prior authorization

When will my provider send my Annual Notice of Change?

Answer: Your current insurance carrier must provide the ANOC document to you in September of the current year. This will give you an opportunity to compare your current policy changes. For the coming year.

How do I change my Medicare plan during open enrollment?

Answer: You can contact your current insurance carrier and discuss with a representative from that company. Or contact a trusted advisor that will give you an unbiased opinion of the plans available in your area.

I'm a green card holder who's been in the US for 4 years and turning 65 soon. Am I eligible for Medicare?

Answer: To be eligible for Medicare you must have worked 40 quarters and paid Medicare taxes for each of those 40 quarters.

That is 10 years.

What do you like most about being a Medicare agent?

Answer: I like assisting seniors in getting the most out of their current Medicare plan and comparing the plans with them for the new year.

How can I make sure I'm not overpaying for my Medicare plan, and are there any tools or resources you recommend?

Answer: Yes there are a number of tools you can utilize

1) SHIP … State Health Insurance Program. It is free.

2) Review your ANOC document your get from your current plan . It gives you a side by side comparison of your plan changes from this year to next year.

3) Medicare also gives you a new book each year with all of the plans for the following year

4) Schedule a meeting with a trusted advisor as they go through certifications each year and have a good idea of new plans or changes for the next year. They can give you advise as to the changes for the upcoming year

What is one piece of advice you would give to someone who is worried about their mental health during retirement?

Answer: Discuss this issiue with your trusted Primary Care provider. Consider the PCP’s advice and continue from there.

If I qualify for both Medicare and Medicaid, how does that eligibility work together?

Answer: If you qualify for Medicare and Medicaid, you can receive benefits from both. There are specific plans designed for Dual (Medicare and Medicaid) consumers based on your Medicaid level and a specific Chronic Condition.

Do Maximum Out-of-Pocket (MOOP) limits change every year?

Answer: Maximum Out-of-Pocket can change each year. The Insurance carriers can make changes to their plans each year.
