Nicole Scholz, Medicare Insurance Agent

About Me

Scholz Insurance was established in 1985 by my father, Lance R. Scholz. Lance specialized in Medicare supplementation, basing his business philosophy on educating those entering the world of Medicare so that they can be confident in their understanding of coverage options and, ultimately, their choices of coverage.

In 2015 I joined my father in his business, taking over the business in 2018 when he retired. I continue the business philosophy established by my father.

My professional background includes management, insurance processing, and medical billing. I am licensed in Medicare Supplements, Life Insurance, Long-Term Care, Short-Term Care, Final Expense, and Annuities.

I have lived in Bend since 1985. I love living in Bend and enjoy all of the outdoor activity and beauty it has to offer.

Q&A with Nicole Scholz

Does Medicare cover health care services on a cruise ship?

Answer: Original Medicare will pay for health care on a cruise ship only when you are in United States waters, meaning the ship is either in a U.S. port or within six hours of arrival or departure from an American port. You will want to obtain additional coverage when traveling outside of the united states. Many supplements may provide additional, although limited, coverage for international travel.

How can I verify if a Medicare Advantage plan's advertised benefits are legit?

Answer: You can reach out to the company directly to inquire about plan's benefits and/or you can talk to an insurance agent who is contracted with the company and familiar with the plan's benefits.

How do discount cards and resources affect my Medicare Prescription Drug plan?

Answer: Discount cards, such as GoodRx, are used in lieu of your Medicare prescription drug plan and do no count toward your true out of pocket costs for the year. You may be able to submit receipts to your plan for credit toward your out of pocket cost. You can always ask whether the resource you are using will interact with your prescription drug plan, or if it is separate from it.
