Q&A with Nichole Wright
What do I need to do if I didn't take Medicare at 65 and am now retiring?
Answer: Once you know the date your employer coverage will end, you'll need to sign up for Medicare through the Social Security Administration. Most people sign up for Part A when they turn 65, if that's the case for you then you'll only need to sign up for Part B. If you didn't sign up for A, you'll need to apply for both A & B. Once you know the start date of your Medicare Parts A and/or A and B then you can start selecting a Medicare Supplement & Part D coverage or a Medicare Advantage plan.
Is it ok to meet with multiple Medicare Brokers and Agents as I start looking for help?
Answer: Finding a broker that you click with is important. Everyone has different learning styles, communication styles, and customer service expectations, meetings with a few different agents will help you find the right fit. You should find someone that you can imagine meeting with from year to year that is knowledgeable and that you can trust for guidance.
How is Medicare Advantage expected to evolve in the future?
Answer: I think as the Medicare landscape changes more beneficiaries will continue to enroll in Medicare Advantage plans. I also think that the plans will become more responsive to member needs over time.
What do you like most about being a Medicare agent?
Answer: Connecting with my clients and helping them through the complexities of Medicare navigation. I enjoy being useful.
I am on ssi Disability. I turn 65 in June. I also just got Humana health. So does it be change to SSI?? Or does my SSI -Disabiliy just go on til death.
Answer: Usually once you are eligible for retirement benefits Social Security Disability income converts to Social Security Retirement income. There are different programs though so it is best to check with Social Security Administration directly to know for sure what applies to your situation
