If I have been on disabilty due to an accident, do I qualify for Medicare Insurance?
Answer: Hi there! If you are under 65 years old and receiving Social Security disability benefits, you’ll generally become eligible for Medicare (parts A & B) automatically after 24 months of receiving disability benefits. If you reach age 65 before that time, you will qualify then instead. Also, once you are enrolled in original medicare, parts A & B it is a good idea to review your options for additional coverage such as a Medicare Advantage plan (part C), Medigap plan and/or Prescription drug plan (part D).
