Q&A with Keaton Lewis

What’s the most important question I should be asking about Medicare that I probably haven’t thought of yet?

Answer: This might sound a bit cliche since it's coming from an agent, but I would ask: "What are the reasons why I should work with an agent?" Over the years I've had many clients and come across many beneficiaries who are confused and overwhelmed with relentless, intrusive, and misleading advertising. It has become worse that it's ever been in the last year alone. As an agent, it's my job to understand what's happening in the industry so you won't have to! Trying to understand and navigate everything is like trying to get a college degree without the help of a teacher. I'm here to help relieve the burden, and it costs you nothing to use me!

What benefits are there to working with a Medicare Agent near me vs remote/virtual?

Answer: You can have an agent assist you from all over the country. However, they may not be contracted with all the carriers available to you, and more importantly they don't know or understand the nuances of your specific area. They only look to sell you what they can work with, not always what's in your best interest.

What's one piece of advice you wish every senior knew before picking a Medicare plan?

Answer: Don't just pick a plan for it's attractive free stuff. ALWAYS look at a plan for it's drug coverage for your prescriptions and it's network of doctors FIRST. Then you can look at the fun stuff!

How does Medicare Part B handle coverage for preventative screenings like mammograms?

Answer: For most preventative screenings, Medicare covers it at no cost to you! This is to incentivize you to stay on top of your health. A lot of times Medicare Advantage plans will even reward you for taking care of these preventative screenings.
