Katie Messer, Medicare Insurance Agent
About Me
Hello! I’m a local Kentucky Medicare agent dedicated to helping individuals navigate their Medicare options with confidence.
Whether you’re new to Medicare, moving into a new service area, or finding that your current plan no longer fits your budget or needs, I’m here to help you understand your options and make an informed decision.
Medicare can feel complicated, especially when you’re trying to understand premiums, benefits, prescription coverage, provider networks, and what may change when you move. My goal is to make the process easier by listening to your situation, explaining your available options in plain language, and helping you find coverage that fits your needs and budget.
As a local agent, I’m available to provide one-on-one guidance, in person or over the phone, without the pressure. If you’re approaching Medicare for the first time or considering a change because of your financial situation or a move, I’d be happy to be a local resource you can turn to.

Q&A with Katie Messer
How do I apply for Medicare if I qualify because of a disability?
Answer: Depending on the reason for your disability, in general, you must first apply for and receive Social Security Disability Income. In your 25 month of receiving SSDI you will automatically be enrolled in Medicare.
What are the reasons why I should work with a Medicare agent?
Answer: For many, it’s much easier to speak with someone face-to-face so they can learn about healthcare needs, budget, and your prescriptions and doctors. It’s like having a tour guide that can answer questions as you have them. Services are always without cost and can potentially save you money when they represent more than one insurance carrier and can compare multiple plans and benefits.
I’m on Humana Medicare. Customer service pre-approved a nuclear stress test, but I just got a $780 bill. They escalated it over a week ago and never called back. Do I have to pay? How do I file a complaint?
Answer: You might consider calling the billing department of the provider’s office to ask them if they have received a denial from Humana or whether or not it was processed as out-of-network or in-network. You can also ask for an itemized bill and the insurance Explanation of Benefits to see whether this was a deductible, co-insurance, or a denied service balance. Depending on what you find, you can file an appeal with Humana online, by fax, or by mail.
