Karen Chiaruttini, Medicare Insurance Agent
About Me
My name is Karen. I am a newly licensed independent life and health agent. Through my 25+ years in the healthcare world, i have experienced that Medicare "maze" and also the many commercial insurers that are part of the ACA. After retiring from the medical field in 2023, I realized I still had so much to give back—especially to seniors who deserve clear, patient guidance through the confusing world of Medicare and commercial insurances. Married for 48 years, with three adult children and sixteen grandchildren, I’m deeply rooted in family and community, and I’m committed to serving with honesty, compassion, and a truly no‑pressure approach. My goal is simple: offer YOU honest, no‑pressure support to make YOU feel confident, informed, and genuinely cared for.

My oxygen provider says I need yearly re-evaluations for oxygen coverage, but my last one lapsed and now they are charging me. I’ve been with them since 2017. Please help.
Answer: Call your dr office and ask if they got any requests from oxygen people. Maybe they can complete a current o2 recertification visit soon
I exercise regularly and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Does Medicare offer any incentives or additional benefits for preventive health behaviors?
Answer: Yes they do, but this is usually offered through CMS,centers for medicare and Medicaid services. This is offered thru a MEDICARE ADVANTAGE plan instead of the original medicare plan itself. The Medicare advantage plans will sometimes offer actual incentives,or otherwise known as wellness perks to encourage healthy habits.. ex. Vaccines. Cancer screenings health risk assessments annual wellness visits. Eye exams. Otc benefit cards. Transportation to medical appointments food allowances to some . Some offer various choices of gift cards for completing an incentive some values may be from $10-$100. Each Medicare advantage plan may offer different perks
Who can help me figure out this Medicare "maze and alphabet soup" it's so confusing.
Answer: I think the best way to start in the "maze" would be to explain all the parts of Medicare - A,
B, C, D. Yes, quite a maze, And A LOT of soup. Then explain the differences between Medigap and Medicare Advantage plans
Can I switch from a Medicare Advantage plan to a Supplemental/Medigap plan during the Annual Enrollment Period without answering health questions?
Answer: A medicare beneficiary cannot switch from a Medicare Advantage plan to a Medigap (Supplement) plan during the Annual Enrollment Period (AEP). They would have to go thru underwriting and answer health questions, because Medigap companies are allowed to require medical underwriting outside of specific guaranteed‑issue situations.
What are the reasons why I should work with a Medicare agent?
Answer: Seniors would benefit from talking with a licensed Medicare agent because they would get information that is personalized to their particular situation. This would take the confusion and guesswork out of their decisions, which could effect them negatively the rest of their life. A licensed agent also will make sure they are enrolled in a plan that fits their doctors, prescriptions, and budget, which in the end could save the beneficiary money and possibly give more benefits.
