Answer: If that is your top priority then Original Medicare + Medigap gives you a much broader range options for coverage
Does fall Medicare Open Enrollment let me switch Medigap without health questions?
Answer: No. You only have guaranteed issue when you turn 65. All other times you will be subjected to Medical underwriting.
Does Medicare cover acupuncture, naturopathic doctors, or other alternative medicine?
Answer: Medicare coverage of alternative medicine is limited. Acupuncture and Chiropractic are yes but limited in the scope of treatment. All others are generally not.
I hear about these Food Benefit cards all the time. How much are they worth and how do I get one?
Answer: They are an extra benefit that some Medicare Advantage plans offer. The amount and eligibility vary by plan.
I live in the UK and visit the U.S. for one month a year. Will Medicare Part A cover me, and are there top-up travel policies for costs Part A doesn’t cover?
Answer: No. You will need travel medical insurance that cover medical treatment in the US. If a person lives in the UK and visits for one month out of the year , I would not rely on Medicare and I would get a dedicated travel Medical policy.
What can I change during the October 15 through December 7 enrollment period?
Answer: You can switch from one advantage plan to another. You can also return to just original Medicare with a stand alone part D plan
Does Medicare Part D cover generic statins like simvastatin, lovastatin, and pravastatin, and what should they cost me?
Answer: Yes Medicare Part D generally covers generic statins , but the exact cost depend on the Plans formulary and tier. The pharmacy you use also is a factor.
How can I find out what a test or procedure will cost me before I have it done?
Answer: You can contact your agent to help you understand the costs. You can also contact the facility and request a good faith estimate.
My Medicare Advantage plan with UHC has been closed and will not be available next year. Can I switch to enrolling in a Medicare Supplemental plan for 2027 without having to pre-qualify
Answer: Yes you can switch for 2027 with GUARANTEED ISSUE and with out medical underwriting. You will have 60 days before the plan expires and 63 days after it ends to exercise this right.
