Jesse Peltz, Medicare Insurance Broker

About Me

Plans Plus for Seniors was founded by Arnie Peltz with a straightforward mission: give seniors honest, expert guidance on Medicare — without the pressure, confusion, or hidden agendas that too often come with insurance.

When Jesse joined his father in the business, it became a true family operation. As a father-and-son team, Arnie and Jesse bring a shared commitment to treating every client like a member of their own family.

As independent brokers, they don’t work for any insurance company. They work for you. That means their only job is to compare plans from 30+ carriers and recommend the coverage that best fits your needs and budget — not the plan that pays them the highest commission.

And their service doesn’t end after enrollment. Every year, they conduct a free annual review of all the products you’ve purchased through them — Medicare Supplement, Medicare Advantage, Part D, Critical Illness, Dental/Vision/Hearing, Life Insurance — everything. If a better plan exists, they’ll find it for you.

Q&A with Jesse Peltz

Can I use my Medicare when I travel to another state?

Answer: This largely depends on what you use as secondary coverage. Medicare itself is a national program and can be used in any state. If you go with a Medicare supplement, this will remian the case as Medicare is still the primary coverage. If you choose an advantage plan, it can be limiting, as there can be different state-to-state rules within the advantage plan. Thanks.

How can I save money on my Medicare Supplement?

Answer: There are a variety of ways you can save money on your supplement. Every area has many carriers that sell supplements. The actual plan designs remain the same regardless, as the plans are standardized by the government. The price can vary greatly, though, depending on the carrier; you must be sure to check all the carriers' pricing. You can also lower your supplement plan design to something that might be more affordable; this can come with more out-of-pocket costs when accessing care, though.

I've heard about IRMAA affecting my Medicare premiums. How can I find out if it applies to me, and how does it work?

Answer: IRMAA stands for Income Related Monthly Adjustment Amount. The government will look at your tax return from 2 years ago, they will look at the modified adjusted gross income. This is your adjusted gross income with any tax free instruments added back in. In 2026, if this number is over $109,000 (single tax return) or $218,000 (joint tax return) you will be on the IRMAA scale and paying more for Part B and Part D. There are 5 levels or IRMAA depending how high income is.

If the income is changing at this time as it does for many at retirement there is a form that can be filed with Social Security to reduce IRMAA.

What is Guaranteed Issue for Medicare Supplement plans, and when does it apply?

Answer: For a Medicare supplements everyone has guaranteed issue rights for the 6 months following their part B effective date. Some states will offer guaranteed issue year round or during certain points in the year but that is state specific.

In most cases outside of this time period the supplement carriers can ask health questions and deny coverage if they deem necessary.
