Q&A with Jennifer Zimmerle
Are there coupons or savings programs for Breztri for Medicare patients?
Answer: Medicare Pt D patients cannot use coupons or copay savings cards. There are programs available through the drug manufacturer, which is Astra Zeneca for Breztri. You can apply with them to see if you are eligible.
How do Medicare agents and brokers get paid?
Answer: Agents and brokers are paid by the carrier. We get a one time fixed amount as a commission for the sale and another smaller amount monthly to service your policy and guide you as you need help using your policy.
Why have millions of seniors suddenly lost their Medicare Advantage coverage?
Answer: In 2025 many carriers decided to exit different areas of the country where they were losing money. This lead to many seniors being forced to choose a new plan or purchase a Medicare supplement and a drug plan in some cases.
Do Medicare Advantage plans cover international travel?
Answer: No most Advantage plans do not cover international travel. I always suggest that my clients purchase travel insurance when traveling outside of the US.
Why do some hospitals not accept Medicare Advantage plans for cancer treatment?
Answer: Not every facility will be in network with every Advantage plan. If you want to make sure the cancer facility of your choice would be in network, should you need it, you should check this before you choose a plan.
I'm planning to delay Social Security until age 70, but I'm turning 65 soon. How does this affect my Medicare enrollment?
Answer: It will not affect your Medicare enrollment other than the way you pay for your
Part B. Because you will not be drawing your social security yet you will be asked to pay your Part B premium quarterly. Once you are drawing social security the premium will be taken from there.
I've heard Medicare covers home health care, but what exactly does that include?
Answer: Medicare covers all costs associated with home health care. This includes medically necessary visits to access medication management, vital sign checks, physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy and nutrition counseling. It will not cover personal care needs such as bathing, cooking, cleaning or others types of personal care. Those services must be paid for by the individual and are provided by other agencies or different divisions of home health agencies.
Why does Medicare allow insurance companies to bombard seniors with confusing mail and TV ads?
Answer: Medicare has started to look at these advertisements. They have not yet begun to look at the deceptive practices these tele-sales groups use to enroll Medicare beneficiaries. These large groups are bombarding seniors with ads that in most cases have nothing to do with them. My suggestion to my clients is to call me if they have any questions about their plan or options they may be eligible for. Please reach out to a trusted local advisor to get help when you need it.
Part A Inpatient Hospital deductible $1,676 but if I have Part C Advantage Plan, the hospital $350 copay per day 1-7 so how does this work?
Answer: If you are a member of an Advantage plan you do not pay the Pt A deductible. You are only responsible for the hospital copay listed in your plans summary of benefits. So you would pay the $350 per day for days 1-7 as you listed in your question.
My doctor wants me to use a smartphone app for medication management and adherence. Are there any Medicare programs that support this type of digital health solution?
Answer: No typically Medicare does not cover medications and leaves that type of coverage and the management of it to the insurance carriers. I would use whichever app your doctor wants you to use to keep it more simple. There are many med management apps out there but your doctor may want to use a specific for a reason.
