Q&A with Jennifer Zimmerle
My doctor wants me to use a smartphone app for medication management and adherence. Are there any Medicare programs that support this type of digital health solution?
Answer: No typically Medicare does not cover medications and leaves that type of coverage and the management of it to the insurance carriers. I would use whichever app your doctor wants you to use to keep it more simple. There are many med management apps out there but your doctor may want to use a specific for a reason.
Part A Inpatient Hospital deductible $1,676 but if I have Part C Advantage Plan, the hospital $350 copay per day 1-7 so how does this work?
Answer: If you are a member of an Advantage plan you do not pay the Pt A deductible. You are only responsible for the hospital copay listed in your plans summary of benefits. So you would pay the $350 per day for days 1-7 as you listed in your question.
Why does Medicare allow insurance companies to bombard seniors with confusing mail and TV ads?
Answer: Medicare has started to look at these advertisements. They have not yet begun to look at the deceptive practices these tele-sales groups use to enroll Medicare beneficiaries. These large groups are bombarding seniors with ads that in most cases have nothing to do with them. My suggestion to my clients is to call me if they have any questions about their plan or options they may be eligible for. Please reach out to a trusted local advisor to get help when you need it.
