Q&A with Jeffrey Barone

Answer: The best thing about being a Medicare agent is the fact that I can help people find the most affordable health insurance based on the needs of each client.

Every person has different needs and my job is to help them navigate the confusing maze of health insurance.

Answer: Medicare and your Medicare Advantage plan will cover everything except the facility fee. Depending on where you have the surgery, the cost will vary.

Be very cautious. Medicare will NOT pay for the surgery if you choose to have the Lazer procedure. It's a fairly new procedure doctors are using and the out of pocket cost can be very expensive.

Answer: I think all Med Sup plans are alike. I deal with both United and Blue Cross. They are well accepted here in RI.

Both have great discounts and offer dental and vision riders.

Answer: Yes, you will need to apply for a least Part A. If you are getting health insurance thru your employer, just part A. If you decide to drop your employer coverage and get a Medicare Advantage plan then you would also need Medicare Part B

Answer: With Medicare and private insurance so challenging, I most like working with seniors and helping them understand thier options. Every person is different and every one is a challenge.

Answer: I am assuming you are talking about Medicare Part B. Medicare pays 80% of the doctors fee and you would be resonsible for the additional 20%.

If you have a medigap plan, Plan G or Plan N, then that plan would pick up the 20% and you would only be responisble for the Part B deductable.

Call me and I will be happy to help you.

Answer: No need to worry. Effective 1/1/2025, the maximum out of pocket cost for all PDP plans is $2000.00. Once that number is reached, the carrier will be responsible for all drug costs. That number will increase to $2100.00 in 2026

Answer: A good time to start thinking about AEP is early September. You should call your agent and have him/her schedule a meeting after 10/1. Obviously, your broker should be in contact with you through out the year to address any issues you may have.

Answer: Medicare is a nation wide coverage plan. If you have a Medicare Advantage plan, you will need to verify if that coverage will also be transfered. If not, you will need to enroll in a plan that covers the area in which you move to, Medicare offeres a SEP for just this situation.

Answer: While full privatization isn’t official policy, the momentum is clearly leaning in that direction.

Whether that’s a good thing depends on your lens—efficiency and innovation vs. equity and oversight.

Answer: First I would need to know what the medication is. Once it is determined, then we can see if Medicare will cover it. Medicare usualy does not cover prescription medication unless you have Medicare Part D
