Q&A with Jaime Valadez
Answer: Medicare advantage has Annual enrollment from October 15-December 7th and Open enrollment from January 1-March 31st for people who have an advantage plan. You may qualify for Special enrollment periods through out the year from chronic conditions, change in Medicaid status and a number of other reasons. Consult with an insurance broker for guidance.
Answer: Some plans do cover SilverSneakers. Not all have the same benefits. I would recommend you connect with a local broker.
Answer: I would recommend that you contact them because you should have received your new Medicare card showing the effective dates for Part A and Part B. Yes, you keep both Medicare and Medicaid, but there are plans that are tailored to both of those. Connecting with a local broker would be a big help.
Answer: It really depends if you currently have coverage through your employer. We would have to go over both plans and really see what makes the most sense for your situation. You would need to sit down with a broker. I would love to be able to help at no cost or commitment.
Answer: Not using a broker to compare all insurance companies. All insurance is good insurance, but it is not a one-shoe-fits-all.
Answer: Unfortunately, I’m not sure why the person who signed you up to the plan didn’t give you the benefit breakdown. Each plan covers things differently. I would encourage you to have the plan reviewed by a broker that is able to compare multiple insurance carriers. I would love to help.
Answer: My customers do use the OTC Benefits. Depending on the insurance carrier, there is a specific amount given every month or every 3 months. It is preloaded to a card, and you can use it for approved items. Usually, carriers have a catalog of approved items that I share with my clients so they know where and what they can buy.
Answer: The annual notice of change is usually sent by September 30th. We can review it during Annual Enrollment Period Oct 15 - Dec 7th.
Answer: You definitely can revert back to Original Medicare. We would connect and go over the pros and cons in doing that.
Answer: An experienced broker is usually an independent broker and is appointed with 8-10 insurance carriers. Rookies are usually only licensed with 2-3.
Answer: Connect with trusted agents that are local. Meet at trusted places like business offices, doctors' offices, etc. Try not to give out a lot of personal information online or over the phone if not really needed.
Answer: It is; it helps with people who live alone and being around familiar people. There are studies that show seniors recover faster being in home care.
Answer:
-Simplify Medicare and compare different companies
-My service does not end at enrollment; I am available through the year to make sure your needs are met.
-Avoid missing deadlines and keep you updated on coverage changes.
Answer: By reviewing your current plan, making sure you are on the correct plan for your specific situation. Making sure we are using the correct pharmacy within the plan's network.
