How many hours of home health care does Medicare cover, and how long can it last?
Answer: Medicare will cover up to 28 hours per week, and in some cases up to 35 hours. Coverage is indefinite but needs to be certified by a doctor every 60 days that it is not for custodial care.
Does Medicare Part A or Part B pay for an emergency room visit, and does it change if I am admitted?
Answer: Part B covers the initial emergency room visit, but the coverage has a shift to Part A if you are formally admitted into the hospital.
Does the Medicare Prescription Payment Plan lower my drug costs?
Answer: The payment plan will split the amount you are expected to pay into equal payments instead of possible large amounts due to deductibles and upfront coinsurance amounts. It will not lower the overall amount you pay for your prescriptions.
Does Medicare cover an AeroChamber or other spacer for my inhaler?
Answer: AeroChamber and similar spacers are considered over-the-counter items that Medicare will not cover. You may be able to utilize OTC amounts towards the item if your plan offers the benefit.
Can I be turned down for a Medicare Supplement plan because of a pre-existing condition?
Answer: That depends on the state you live in. Some states guarantee your eligibility into a Medicare supplement, while others have underwriting that will either deny you coverage or change the premium you will pay for the plan.
Are imaging tests like MRI or ultrasound for breast cancer covered?
Answer: Yes they are! Depending on the type of Medicare you select, preventative schedules stating such as mammograms or colonoscopies are covered completely, while comprehensive scans usually have some sort of cost share.
How can I find new doctors in my network?
Answer: The easiest way to check for local doctors in your network is to call the customer service number on your plan’s membership card.
You can also ask a preferred location if they have doctors taking new patients that participate in your specific insurance plan.
Will I get an Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) every year?
Answer: Yes , every carrier must send a notice of changes every year. The only exception is if the plan is non being renewed, then they are sent a notice of plan cancellation for the upcoming year.
What are the reasons why I should work with a Medicare agent?
Answer: Working with a broker licensed to help individuals with their Medicare decisions will have network, procedure, and pharmaceutical knowledge that cannot be matched. In addition, the broker will have accountability to make sure the client is satisfied with the plan.
Brokers are there during the entirety of serving the client, and assist in case there are any billing or care issues, along with a variety of benefit knowledge and make sure the client utilizes as much of the plan as possible. A broker’s job does not end with enrollment.
If someone enrolls in a MAPD C-SNP and gets disenrolled for not providing a CCV form within 60 days, is there a SEP to enroll in another MAPD plan?
Answer: Yes , the individual has two months after being involuntarily removed from a plan to enroll into a new plan.
