About Me

Choosing a Medicare plan is one of the most important healthcare decisions you'll make, and I believe you deserve more than a sales pitch; you deserve an advocate. My approach is simple: I don't sell Medicare plans; I educate my clients so we can make the best decision together.

Then, I'll explain your options in clear, straightforward language so you can feel confident and informed every step of the way. Q&A with Frank Miko

Do I have to answer health questions when switching from one Supplemental/Medigap plan to another?

Answer: Unless you qualify to change plans under a guaranteed issue circumstance, typically yes, you would be subject to the new plan's underwriting health questions. However depending on what carrier you're currently with or what supplement you currently have, you may be exempt from underwriting. It's best to check with your local agent who can look at your specific circumstances & offer an informed recommendation on a course that's in your best interest.

Does Medicare cover medical marijuana if it's prescribed for chronic pain or cancer?

Answer: The answer is no, for two reasons.

1) This type of teatment would probably be a prescription type scenario and therefore fall under Part D. Medicare covers Parts A&B only and not Part D for prescription drugs.

2) Because Marijuana is still illegal under federal law, federal programs like Medicare are prohibited to pay for illegal substances, including medical Marijuana.

Are mental health services like therapy fully covered under Original Medicare?

Answer: Mental health services typically are not fully covered under Original Medicare. Original Medicare does cover some of the cists for outpatient therapy and mental health care, however you are responsible for out of pocket costs including the Part B deductible and a 20% coinsurance.

A Medicare supplement (Medigap) or a Medicare Advantage plan can help pay these additional costs not covered by Original Medicare.
