An agent asked me to sign a scope of appointment for before we could discuss my Medicare insurance or part D plan. What is an SOA? Is this normal? Are call centers exempt from this practice?
Answer: This is a good thing. The SOA or Scope of Appointment defines what the agent will be discussing with you. it is your way to be sure of how they can help. If the agent lists something that you did not want to cover then don't sign it. Also, why would you deal with a call center ? The prices are the same as your local agent. The selection of plans is usually the same. Your local agent can do all the call center agent can plus ....
What are the reasons why I should work with a Medicare agent?

Answer: for those with low income it helps pay for the cost of medicine and in some case cost of the drug plan. If you are on a Medicare Advantage Plan call the toll free number on the back of your card and as to sign up for Extra Help. If you are on a Supplement with a Part D plan call the Part D plan and ask to sign up for Extra Help. There is no charge.
