What's the biggest mistake seniors make when choosing a Medicare Part D plan?

Answer: The biggest mistake would be to not enter your current prescriptions into the carriers drug lookup tools. It is very important all current prescriptions are in the plan's formulary, and know what your cost share exposure is.

Why are people unhappy with Medicare Advantage plans?

Answer: It depends on each person's cirucmstance ... but a Medicare Advantage plan works very similar to an employer plan. They both have a Network of physicians and facilities that you need to use. Medicare Advantage plans are more restrictive ( like an employer plan ), compared to Original Medicare. They might require referrals or prior authorizations. A broker can you help you compare plans and navigate those differences.

I picked a Medicare Advantage plan based on the low premium, but now I'm facing high copays. Did I make a mistake?

Answer: If you enrolled in a plan within the first year, you have Trial Rights. Trial Rates, mean you have the option to switch back to original Medicare + a MediGap policy without Medical Underwriting. After the first year, you can still switch back but would be subject to Medical Underwriting.

I'm still working at 67, and I don't know if I need Part B. Why is something so basic so hard to figure out?

Answer: If you are still working for an employer with more than 20 Employees and you have a qualified creditable health plan through them - you don't need to enroll in Part B. Once you lose that coverage,then you will need to enroll in Part B.

What's the most frustrating misconception you have to clear up with clients about Medicare every year?

Answer: Original Medicare covers everything. Although Original Medicare is good coverage there are many holes or gaps. It's important to cover or limit your financial exposure and protect your retirement assets , as original Medicare has no Maximum Out of Pocket expense.

How can I get dental and vision coverage with Medicare?

Answer: Two ways get Dental & Vision.

1) On original Medicare + a Supplement - you can buy Dental & Vision plan

2) On Medicare Advantage - they will usually include some sort of allowance for Dental & Vision.

I'm turning 65 next month and the amount of Medicare mail I'm getting is overwhelming. How do I sort through all this?

Answer: It is overwhelming, and our government makes it plenty complicated. My advise is to connect with a certified and licensed broker. There is no charge for our services & no obligation. A Broker can explain and make the complicated simple for you.

How does Medicare cover COPD treatment and oxygen therapy?

Answer: 1. Quitting Smoking

Medicare Part B covers smoking cessation counseling, offering up to 8 face-to-face visits per year. Nicotine patches and other smoking aids may also be covered.

2. Oxygen Therapy

Medicare Part B helps cover oxygen therapy, including the rental of oxygen equipment and supplies. You pay 20% after you meet your deductible unless you have a Medi-Gap policy

3. COPD Medications and Bronchodilators

Copayment amounts will depend on your specific Part D plan.

4. Pulmonary Rehabilitation

Medicare Part B also covers pulmonary rehabilitation for moderate to severe COPD.
