Q&A with David Chaims

Answer: While Medicare supplements with Original Medicare and a drug plan is great coverage for Health Care.

But it does not cover Long term care. No Health Care Provider or Medicare cover it. You must get a Separate LTC Policy to cover Custodial Care in these settings, In Home Care, Assisted Living or Nursing Home Care.

Thank you.

Answer: Have a Broker agent check on available plans from multiple company's that have her current Doctor's in it's network and the medications she is taking on their drug plan. Then out of those, see what plan would be best based on benefits, that is available in her area.

Thank you.

Answer: Over the years the cost of health care has increased as did the cost of living and so has your Medicare Part B premiums.

Part B premiums are based on your income over the last two years, so if your income has gone up your Part B premium may have gone up additionly also. It works on a sliding scale called Irmaa.

Thank you.

Answer: If you want the best plan for you situation, get a local agent to go to work for you and show you your best options. Then have the agent check on plans every year going forward, to see if the one your on is still the best. Medicare Advantage plans and prescription drug plans change every year.

Thank you.

Answer: It would most likely add to the cost of coverage.

If you add to the cost of additional service's Medicare provides you can expect the premiums to increase.

Although adding them as a optional add-on at additional cost, may keep the overall costs down.

Thank You.

Answer: Check with your Medicare Advantage plan to see if there is a lab close to you that is in-network and what the co-payment would be for that Lab work you need done.

Best to find this out from your provider before and know what to expect. In-Network Providers usually cost less than out of Network Providers.

Thank you.

Answer: A local agent can be available more often when you need them in person. They can explain things face to face in the comfort of your own home or a location close to you. You also get to know your agent and create a relationship. Someone you can referee to your friends or family member's.

Local agents can also meet with you remotely if the circumstances require it.

Thank you.

Answer: 1st, you would need to contact your current Medicare Health Care provider to see if the plan you currently have is available in the county you are moving to. If not you would need to get a Medicare plan that operates in that county.

You would also become eligible for a special enrollment period if you need to make a change due to you moving.

Thank you.

Answer: 5 star ratings can change from year to year. You would have to check with Medicare for current States with 5 star Ratings.
