Q&A with Daniel Keenan

Answer: Once I meet with seniors to discuss Medicare, they come away with a wealth of information that I have simplified for them. A critical part of the whole process is understanding the time frame available to make decisions about your Medicare program going forward. I have been helping seniors from the inception of the Medicare Advantage and Part D programs that started January 1, 2006.

Answer: The goal of a "free Seminar" is to generate leads for the presenters. I rely heavily on referrals because every client thanks me for helping them set up their Medicare program and I ask that they just pass my name along to people they know or meet who are wondering how to do everything related to Medicare and Social Security.

Answer: If you stay with only Medicare, your next thing you have to do is get a Part D drug program.

Going with a Medicare Advantage, Part C will have a Built in Part D along with many other extra benefits to complimenting and expand benefits under Medicare. Some plans have zero or a small premium for the Medicare Advantage plan.

Answer: What is current premium for Part B. Changes every year! Once you have purchased Part B, your next question is, “When do I have to get PartD?”

Answer: I think the most valuable benefit of working with an agent is accessibility. I give all my clients my self one so that I can be reached quickly.

Answer: If your goal is Drug coverage, your only requirement is that you have enrolled in Part B. You then can enroll in Part D during enrollment periods. Getting MAPD also adds extra benefits for you along with great medical benefits.

Answer: I compare it to what parents have to do with a newborn, take the baby to the Doctor for a "well baby visit."

As a "senior", an annual visit allows the Coctor to track key indicators year after year to see if there have been any significant changes that would warrant more attention.

Answer: Ambulance rides can cost from $500-$2000 depending on location and distance. However, air ambulance can cost $50-$350 per mile!!

Answer: If in researching medications and discovering a history of serious chronic conditions that will require major medical treatments, I share with my beneficiary the expanded coverage available with a Medicare Supplement with a stand alone Part D. I do point out the premium obligations that this type of coverage requires.

Answer: Plans cover dental in two ways.

One would be a schedule of benefits for certain services with an annual maximum benefit, or they would offer a yearly maximum reimbursement amount of coverage.

Answer: The correct term is “Zero Premium”. Also. MAPD means the Medicare Advantage plan has a Part D included with “Zero” Premium.
