Chris Connell, Medicare Insurance Agent

About Me

Hi, I'm Chris Connell. I grew up in South GA and went to FSU, then California for work, then back to South GA on the family farm where I grew up.

I got started in Medicare through the need to help my Memaw, the late Ms. Audrey McNeal. That led me on a path to helping others.

I am the number 1 Google rated broker in the region. Just google Chris Connell Medicare and see for yourself :)

I teach Medicare in various cities throughout the region monthly, I am guest writer for the Valdosta Daily Times, Albany Herald, and Tifton Gazette. I am featured on NBC news WALB, and CBS News WCTV as a local expert on Medicare.

I help make things easy to understand and guide you in the right direction. Give me a call or put a time on my calendar and I'll be happy to help :)

Chris has been very helpful in organizing Medicare enrollment and answering questions about it. We had our first telephone consultation today and it couldn’t have gone better.

Q&A with Chris Connell

I just moved from New York to Florida and have Original Medicare with a New York Medigap plan. Do I need to change my coverage?

Answer: No, you do not. Your carrier may adjust your rate based on your new zip code once you update your address with them.

Why is the new $2,000 out-of-pocket maximum for drug costs important?

Answer: For 2026 it's actually $2,100.

It's important because it means that's the maximum amount you can spend per year on any drug costs.. that is your max out of pocket for a drug copays. That protects you from catastrophic drug costs.

I'm interested in a robotic knee replacement surgery that my surgeon recommends for my specific anatomy. How does Medicare coverage work for this advanced procedure?

Answer: This procedure would fall under B if it's "Outpatient". You would owe a $257 Deductible (if not already met for year) then 20% if you had original Medicare ONLY.

But if you (wisely) had a Medicare Supplement plan, it would cover your entire 20%. (You may have a $20 Co Pay).

If you had an Advantage plan, first it would have to get approved by the carrier's "Prior Authorization", then you would pay whatever Outpatient Surgery your policy has for such. Probably around $450 at an In Network facility

How do I know if a Medigap policy is right for me, and what's the best time to buy one?

Answer: 1- The best time to buy one is 6 months prior to 65th birthday. That is when Medigap/Supplement enrollment window opens (even before you have your Medicare card!) Cheapest at that point.

2- Medigap is more the most comprehensive MEDICALLY.

No Network. No Prior Authorization requirements. Fewer hassles. Doctors like it better.

BUT it costs more. AND Part D drug coverage has to be added separately.

That can be cheap, or can be another expensive payment depending on your drugs.

Medigap also does not include Dental/Vision/Hearing or any spending cards.

So it depends on your budget, your drugs, etc. Reach out to me and I can compare and point you in the right direction. I have over 500 Five Star Reviews on Google :)

So my friend told me I should just go with the cheapest Medicare plan. That sounds too simple - what am I missing?

Answer: Definitely not the best approach- what you are missing is that there are 2 different routes that operate differently, and only one of them you can obtain without health questions, One time in your life. so it's an important decision with lifetime ramifications.

Reach out to me, and I can go over your case specifically with you.

Will I get an Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) every year?

Answer: Yes, you will receive an ANOC from each carrier you currently have business with. Those typically come out late Sept-mid November each year. Its important to review the benefits to see if anything has changed. I have a tool that allows me to auto-compare all carriers New coverages side by side, given the new changes for the coming year. Reach out if I can be of service. -Chris Connell
