Q&A with Cavondra Padgett

What does Medicare Part A cover, and is it really free?

Answer: Part A covers hospital, skilled nursing facility, hospice, and some home health care. While most people do not pay a monthly premium for Part A (because they paid Medicare taxes while they worked), this is not the case for everyone. If you haven't worked long enough (at least 10 years or 40 quarters), or don't qualify through a spouse, you could still be able to enroll in Part A. You'll just have to pay a monthly premium.

Although, you may not have a Part A monthly premium, it's not completely free. You may still have to pay for deductibles, coinsurance, and other out of pocket costs.
