This agency - and specifically Robert Bergman the agent I'm working with - are very knowledgeable, professional and helpful. They scheduled an appointment for me immediately, answered all of my questions and found a plan that I am very happy with. I highly recommend HealthMarkets Insurance.

Robert was helpful in answering my questions regarding my supplemental to Medicare health insurance questions - choices, costs, etc. Another great service is the ability to upload prescriptions on an annual basis (at renewal time) to see if there is a better prescription policy. Good service and easy to work with.

Q&A with Carl Lishing
Is it better to update your Medicare plan often, or to get a plan that will work long term?
Answer: Ideally you get a plan for the long term. However, a persons health can change which could impact which plan is the best fit. Also, changes happen with Medicare Advantage plans so it should be reviewed from time to time to make sure its still the best fit.
For Medicare Part D, why would someone pick a plan with a high total cost?
Answer: This usually is not the most cost effective solution. Generally, you want to shop based on which plan covers your current meds at the lowest total cost. Plans can be changed if needed during the annual enrollment period for the following year. The drug formulary list may be more robust on the high premium Part D plan. Some people may be willing to pay more than for that just in case they add more expensive drugs during the year.
