I met with Robert for my consultation and he patiently worked through several different permutations of coverages that would best work for us. I am very grateful for his effort to find the best fit for our family!

This agency - and specifically Robert Bergman the agent I'm working with - are very knowledgeable, professional and helpful. They scheduled an appointment for me immediately, answered all of my questions and found a plan that I am very happy with. I highly recommend HealthMarkets Insurance.
Q&A with Carl Lishing
What happens if my dad’s income changes? Can his Medicare plan or costs change too?
Answer: Income changes would could impact how much he pays for Income Related Monthly Adjustment Amount (IRMAA)on Medicare Part B & Part D. There is a two year look back to determine the amount of IRMAA. If there is a qualifying event the (Like retirement) and the income is coming down it can be appealed so you don't have to wait two years.
Are visits with psychologists, social workers, or psychiatrists included in Medicare coverage?
Answer: Medicare Advantage plans are required to cover the same things that Original Medicare covers but they work different. So, the short answer is yes. Medicare Advantage plans do have networks to work within and they can use managed care programs to determine medically necessity. You will want to make sure you stay in network to get the most out of your plan.
Is it better to update your Medicare plan often, or to get a plan that will work long term?
Answer: Ideally you get a plan for the long term. However, a persons health can change which could impact which plan is the best fit. Also, changes happen with Medicare Advantage plans so it should be reviewed from time to time to make sure its still the best fit.
For Medicare Part D, why would someone pick a plan with a high total cost?
Answer: This usually is not the most cost effective solution. Generally, you want to shop based on which plan covers your current meds at the lowest total cost. Plans can be changed if needed during the annual enrollment period for the following year. The drug formulary list may be more robust on the high premium Part D plan. Some people may be willing to pay more than for that just in case they add more expensive drugs during the year.
