I called and left a message. I was able to schedule a same day appointment. Jack called me back with a plethora of information that I was unaware of and we were able to choose a health plan that worked for me. I would recommend this group of incredibly competent and intelligent individuals to anyone seeking to navigate the healthcare markets or anybody actively seeking to increase their bottom line. They're fantastic!

My husband and I highly reccomend Tindon Health. I never thought I'd be able to retire before I could get Medicare, I thought I'd have to wait until I was 65. But Brianna showed us how to get insurance we could afford, and I was able to retire at 62. She patiently walked us through the whole process, and explained everything, every step of the way, and believe me, nobody asked more questions than I did. Whenever I email her for guidance, she always takes the time to follow up with me, and helps put my mind at ease. If you need help with health insurance, but aren't sure how to navigate the system, trust me, Brianna is the one you need on your side. So if you're dreaming of retirement, but think you can't because of insurance, don't let that stop you, call her, and maybe you'll be able to start enjoying retirement earlier than you think too. And when you're ready to sign up for Medicare, like my husband just did this year, she can definitely help you with that too. She is has a wealth of knowledge and will help you get the best plan for your needs and special circumstances. Thank you Brianna for everything you do!

Q&A with Brianna Henward

What is the biggest mistake seniors make when enrolling in Medicare?

Answer: The biggest mistake seniors make is not picking up drug coverage immediately. Even if you have no medications or very little drug costs, you still need to pick up coverage or you will accrue a life time penalty when you do enroll. There are very affordable options and we can make sure you're not over insured.

Does Medicare cover Ozempic and other drugs prescribed for weight loss?

Answer: Medicare and the Affordable Care Act does not cover prescription weight loss, unfortunately. However, they can cover Ozempic or similar glp-1s if you are diabetic.

Medicare is slow to keep up with changing medical advancements, but I hope they do change this policy soon so we can administer the medication to help AVOID diabetes, instead of simply treating it once it's already there.

What's the difference between a Medicare broker and a Medicare agent?

Answer: Many independent Medicare advisors use the words "Broker" and "Agent" interchangeably, but there is a difference. All brokers are agents but not all agents are brokers.

An Agent means they are licensed and can represent a plan.

A Broker means they are licensed and can represent multiple plans.

Beware of "captured" agents, or agents that work specifically for one company. They're good people but their hands are also tied if that company has a down year or if your doctor leaves their network. They only have 1 option to show you, even if it's not a good fit at all.

Is my Medicare deductible supposed change from year to year?

Answer: Yes, the deductible can absolutely change year to year. For example, the Part B deductible went from $240 to $257 in 2025. Your advantage plans can also change year to year, so it's always good to check in each fall.

Aren't those Medicare seminars just sales pitches in disguise?

Answer: It all depends on if it's an insurance carrier specific seminar or an Education seminar. By law, educational seminars cannot talk about plan specifics or prices. However, that means that the educational seminars can't really dive into the nitty gritty details of the insurance plans you're comparing. However, a sales seminar typically only represents one plan options.

The best thing to do? Sit down with us, one on one, and compare the specific plan options for your exact county and needs.

I just started on Medicare Part D, and I'm confused about whether my new cholesterol medication counts toward my coverage gap. Can you explain?

Answer: The great news is that the Coverage Gap is gone as of January 1st, 2025.

Now, how your cholesterol medication is covered but your specific plan is a bit more nuanced depending on which medicine and which plan. Often cholesterol meds, like Atorvastatin, are very low cost but I can get you an exact quote at any time.

Can I show my Original Medicare Card instead of my Medicare Advantage card, if my provider doesn't take my advantage insurance?

Answer: If you choose Medicare Advantage, then you'll need to show that card to your provider and if your provider does not take Medicare Advantage, then we'll want to explore a different insurance option for you, like Medigap.

The reason being that, when you're enrolled in Medicare Advantage, Medicare is paying that plan to be your insurance thus your Original Medicare card won't pay claims. Alternatively, you can go back to Original Medicare and pick up a Medigap plan. On a Medigap plan, Original Medicare pays its portion and then the rest simply goes to the Medigap plan. The Medigap has no deciding power and then the provider simply bills Medicare, removing the need to check additional networks.

What's the best way for seniors to protect themselves from Medicare-related scams?

Answer: The best way to protect yourself from Medicare-related scams is to actually develop a relationship with the person you're working with. Just like a financial advisor or a doctor, you want someone you'll trust to be there through the year and in years to come. When in doubt, make sure they are a licensed insurance broker and works for a reputable brokerage - not some random person at a call center.

What are disadvantages of PPO?

Answer: PPO plans, which are medical plans that let you go outside of the network, can be great because they allow you to see most providers and see a specialist without a referral (though the specialist themselves often still requires the referral).

The disadvantages are that they typically are more expensive and have higher copays/deductibles than HMOs. Plus, even if your plan lets you go outside of the network, if your provider refuses to bill outside of their network then you'll be left with a messier reimbursement process vs simply being in-network. Lastly, many people pay for a PPO even when every doctor they'd like to see is actually in-network anyway. So they're paying more for worst coverage to gain a benefit they'll never use.

What are the reasons why I should work with a Medicare agent?

Answer: Medicare and Medicare Plans are very different from state to state and from year to year. Maine and New Hampshire, for example, and VERY different. Working with an expert, like myself, that truly specializes in these local plans and laws can save you countless hours of research and thousands of dollars in mistakes. Even if you do all the research yourself in year 1, do you really want to do that every year of your retirement?

Instead, get an expert advisor in your corner that costs you nothing but knows your exact situation, goals and wants in coverage. My team & I can look out for you and be there for you all year long when there's questions on benefits, billing or law changes.
