Q&A with Aurelia Chatman

Can I drop my employer health insurance and switch to Medicare instead?

Answer: If you are eligible for Medicare you can switch because it would create a special enrollment period. There are some things that you need to consider when switching; your premiums, prescription cost, doctors, and out of pocket cost to name a few. If you’d like I can help you compare your options.

My parent takes several brand name prescriptions, how do we know which plan saves the most money overall?

Answer: The only way to know which plan saves the most is to compare their prescription drug coverage to other carriers coverages.

In any case the maximum out of pocket cost for 2026 (Part D / PDP) is $2,100 per year for covered prescription drugs.

Once they’ve paid out this amount, they will pay $0 for covered medications for the rest of the calendar year.

Based on their income, they may be eligible for savings under the Medicare Saving Plan.

Hopefully this information will help.

How do I request a doctor be added to my Medicare Advantage plan?

Answer: To clarify, if you are asking how your Dr can be added to the network. You can ask you Dr to reach out to the carrier and complete their contract to become a provider. Your Dr would have to agree to the trend of that contract before becoming a preferred provider.

But if you are asking how to add your Dr to your existing plan, and your Dr is already in-network, you can contact member services and add your Dr. If you need additional clarification, please feel free to contact me. Aurelia Chatman- Your Health Partner
