About Me
Alex Adams is a licensed insurance advisor with more than 10 years of experience helping seniors and individuals navigate their Medicare and insurance options. Throughout his career, he has assisted thousands of clients across the country while leading successful enrollment and sales teams serving 29 states. Today, he’s proud to bring that same level of expertise home to Missouri and Illinois, focusing on building genuine, face-to-face relationships within the community he knows best.
Born and raised in Jefferson County, Alex graduated from Fox High School before attending the University of Missouri–St. Louis (UMSL). He and his fiancée live in Pevely, where they stay busy raising their family, including two stepchildren and a baby girl on the way. Their home is also shared with five adopted dogs who certainly keep life interesting.
Alex believes the insurance experience should be personal, not transactional. After years of working in large nationwide call centers, he founded Truestar Senior Benefits to provide something increasingly rare—local expertise, in-person conversations, and guidance from someone who truly takes the time to listen. Is it mandatory to sign up for Medicare at age 65?
Answer: Not at all - there are many scenarios where it is acceptable, and even advised not to sign up for Medicare when your turn 65. Just as it is important for some folks to enroll when turning 65, is can be equally important for others not too, as many mistakes here on either scenario can result in costly penalties.
Ultimately the most important thing I've learned over the years is everyone situation is different and we have to ask a lot of questions, and the right questions before we can say one way or another what is best for you.

How can I check if my prescription drug is covered before enrolling in a Medicare Part D plan?
Answer: Checking medications is a crucial part of the plan selection process. Not having access to medications, or a preferred pharmacy is one of the biggest pain points I see with Medicare beneficiaries every year. Often times costing headaches and extra money every time you refill a prescription.
The quickest and easiest way to do the research on your own is to utilize the tools on medicare.gov by finding the plan you are considering enrolling into, and adding your prescription, dosage, refill frequency and then pharmacy.
Not all plans are going to cover a medication the same so it is important to be accurate with which plan and exactly which medication you take so that you can see how the plans formulary (list of covered drugs) applies to your medication.

Is the Medicare Extra Help program expected to change in 2026?
Answer: Great question! The Extra Help savings program, also known as Low Income Subsidy (LIS) is not expected to make and major changes this year.
While no major changes are expected, we can expect the qualifying income thresholds and the assistance levels Medicare beneficiaries receive to vary year to year.

Answer: Medicare agents are professionally licensed experts in their field. This creates a simple and effective path to those Medicare beneficiaries to understand the process. Not unlike using expert professionals for other services like tax experts, legal experts, and real estate.
Should I worry about Medicare cuts?
Answer: In my 10 years of experience , I have always found it best to stay informed and educated rather than worry.
Most often the headlines we see involving changes or cuts in Medicare do not impact you or your healthcare plan directly.
My advice, Stay informed and do your research beyond the headlines or reach out to an agent like myself for guidance on specific issues and how they may effect you.
